Race and walk Start at 6:30 near South Park entrance to Holy cross Cemetery. Fire Departments, Law Enforcement Agencies and Emergency Services Workers encouraged to compete, as a group.
Friday September 3rd 2010 6:30 pm start Holy Cross Cemetery, South Park entrance.

This year Local 282's Outing will be held on September 17th at the Bison City Rod & Gun. It is for members and retirees of Local 282. It will run from 1 pm to 9 pm and cost $10.00. Please see the members only page for more details.

Message: I am writing this note to let you know that NY Congressman Chris Lee left 9-11-01 rescuers on the floor above. Mr Lee was the only member from New York to VOTE NO on HR847 the health bill for responders. Mr. Lee promised 9/11/01 first responders that you would co-sponsor on the bill, then last minute you backed out. Please pass this onto your members. Many members of the FDNY are get sick and dying. I have stage 4 cancer from working the pile and need help. This Bill HR847 would have help to pay the growing doctor and hospital bills rolling in. Please call Mr. Lee and let him know he let us down.

* P & A Flex Accounts - The union received word that as of January 1, 2011 Members will not be allowed to use their flex card to purchase over-the-counter drugs. If you have a doctor's note or prescription for an over-the-counter drug, you will be able to file a manual claim.
* Extended Health Coverage for Dependent Children
Recently President Obama made sweeping changes to the health care for dependent children 18 to the age of 26. The effective date of the Federal Health Care Reform Mandate goes into effect September 23, 2010.
Since the City of Buffalo's group renewal date is July 1, 2011, the City of Buffalo and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York is providing bridge coverage between June 1, 2010 and the plan renewal of July 1, 2011.
> This coverage extension applies to CURRENTLY ENROLLED young adults only who remain on their parent's policy and are eligible for coverage on or after June 1.
> Dependents that age off prior to June 1, 2010, are eligible for the extended coverage at the NEXT open enrollment after the implementation of the law. Eligibility for those dependents will be July 1, 2011.
> This extension applies to medical coverage only; not dental
