ZOO DAY
Wednesday, August 6, 2008
1st Platoon on Days
Step up and make a difference
Buffalo Professional Firefighters will escort 100 special students from School 84 to the Buffalo Zoo once again. Make a commitment to these children and volunteer this year. Firefighters are asked to wear BFD t-shirts or work uniforms. Family members of firefighters able to help are welcome (this is not a free family day at the zoo). Volunteers are to park along the park area near Colvin and Crandell. If you choose to park in the main parking lot, you will be subject to a non-refundable fee.
Enter the Zoo only at the Zoofari Courtyard entrance on North Meadow Drive. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company will provide and serve coffee and pastry under the tent area starting at 0830.
Children will arrive at 0930 sharp and will depart at 1300. A pizza and wing lunch for all volunteers will follow at the Wellington Pub, 1541 Hertel Ave. Late arrivals will have to enter at the main entrance on Parkside and show Firefighter I.D. – no exceptions.
Please help continue this tradition by coming out to this event. We have 550 members available to help that day; please don’t depend on the same 30 members to carry the load. Help make the children happy and our union proud. Sign up by calling the union office (856-4130) or F19 (319) and leave a message.
